Position Overview/Primary Purpose
The IT Service Management (ITSM) team is responsible for establishing critical standards and providing actionable data to enhance the operational effectiveness of our internal support organizations in delivering world-class services that align with business goals.
The IT Asset Management (ITAM) function will work with the CMDB owner to design, develop and oversee standards for the HAM lifecycle management of assets within our organization. This role is pivotal in creating and maintaining accurate records, optimizing asset utilization, and understanding the dynamics associated with our asset base.
By leveraging ServiceNow capabilities, the ITAM Owner will work at the direction of the CMDB owner to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and drive cost-efficiency and maintenance initiatives across designated asset categories.
Upon the creation of policies, you will own, train, and administer them, ensuring that all employees, teams, and external partners adhere to the guidelines and standard procedures.
Utilizing existing data and prioritizing key assets, this role will establish an end-to-end process for managing and reporting on the lifecycle of various asset types. The ITAM owner will work with ITOM teams to ensure that assets are used, maintained, upgraded, and appropriately disposed of at the end of their lifecycle. Additionally, they will rely on financial, contractual, and inventory insights to assist service owners and finance teams in making informed decisions about IT assets.
This position will collaborate with multiple internal teams to design integrations with interfacing processes, enabling automated capabilities with procurement, finance, and third parties.
Working closely with other ITSM team members, at the direction of the CMDB manager, this role will ensure that dynamic data is maintained with recommendations for our operational, procurement, and support teams.
You will develop a curated set of reports to enable informed decision-making with actionable data across the organization, proactively mitigating risk and facilitating cost-effective management and future contractual negotiations.
The ITSM Asset owner will leverage management approved (KPIs) to measure the value of the service to McCormick, supporting continuous investment in the capability. They will advise McCormick colleagues on out-of-support, end-of-life, and expiring support agreement attributes associated with operational services, ideally contributing to long-term planning aligned with management goals.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Work with ITSM/MCK staff throughout the asset life cycle to ensure proper inventory, licensing, allocation, utilization, compliance and retirement of assets.
• Oversee asset life cycle, specifications and preventive maintenance strategy, to include asset creation, tracking, condition assessments, maintenance, and disposal functions.
• Recommend and adhere to asset management policy and strategy to minimize total cost of ownership, increase reliability and meet performance standards.
• Compliance to asset management goals and objectives. Analyzes program data; recognizes issues and trends; identifies options, consequences and develops conclusions and recommendations; prepares complex statistical reports and makes presentations.
• Supply information and support for the development of IT budgets and forecasts.
• Generate and distribute various reports, including compliance reports on current assets and CIs and their status; also perform trend analyses.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders in an open and timely manner, providing all needed information and support.
• Provides guidance in asset management principles and decision-making processes; assists departments in business process documentation and improvement.
• Establishing data collection schedules, standards and methods for use in supporting complex risk-based decisions using accepted asset management principles and practices.
• Prepares and presents comprehensive technical, administrative, and financial analytical and statistical reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and justify conclusions, forecasts, and recommendations based on data summaries and other findings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and oversee hardware asset life cycle processes as designed by ITSM, operating specifications and preventive maintenance strategy, to include asset creation, tracking, condition assessments, maintenance, and disposal functions.
- Execute the analysis, documenting, tracking and reporting on a wide variety of infrastructure condition assessments, including establishing data collection schedules, standards and methods for use in supporting complex risk-based decisions using accepted asset management principles and practices.
- Communication with peers and upper management, as appropriate, relative to issues, problems, and general status
- Leverage data insights to advise on actionable areas for improvement or other actions to ensure operational value is maintained
- Ensure that reporting and metrics are defined which can be shared to drive results which improve or exceed expectations across all areas of asset management
Additional/Secondary Responsibilities
- Contributing to the development and refinement of the asset management policies and schedules as needed for future enhancements.
- Engaging with internal and external resources to ensure clarification, changes, resolution, are addressed.
- Resolve stakeholder related issues and escalate to manager or Director of Strategy and Value Optimization as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience supporting development and management of IT services relative to similar roles.
- Demonstrated capabilities with ITSM, ITIL and SAFeAgile factory models.
- Demonstrated success in large scale capability development and deployment.
- Working knowledge of ITAM principals in asset identification, planning and execution.
- IT, Business or a sourcing environment, with experience relative to similar roles in IT preferred
- Experience in areas of ITSM, ITIL and contract management
- Ability to problem solve issues to resolution
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and processes
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change
- Proficient in ITSM Foundation and experience with ServiceNow ITOM, ITSM, CMDB, KB etc.
- Microsoft Office and other productivity tools
- Global/international experience or exposure a plus
- Experience working with people and teams across various functions and regions.
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions and think outside the box to solve complex and analytical problems.
- Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change

Base Salary: $74,330 - $130,080
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
